Enrolment

Preschool

Government preschools have two major enrolment intakes each year in Term 1 and Term 3, where children are eligible to access 4 terms of their full preschool entitlement (15 hours per week) in the year before beginning school.

  • Children who turn 4 on or before 30th April can begin preschool in term 1, at the beginning of that year and begin school at the beginning of the following year in term 1.
  • Children who turn 4 on or between 1st May and 31st October can begin preschool in term 3 of that same year and begin school in term 3 of the following year, where they complete 6 terms of Foundation/Reception.
  • Children in care or who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander can access up to 15 hours of preschool/week from the age of three. Families can contact us to discuss attendance.

Families wishing to enrol, should complete a Registration of Interest Form (ROI). These can be accessed via this link or in person by calling in to the preschool. Alternatively, family members are welcome to ring on 8289 3915 and a form can be emailed to you. Upon receipt of your ROI, a staff member will confirm your interest and your child’s name will be added to our waiting list.

DfE preschools and kindergartens are required to prioritise enrolment applications up to their staffing capacity, which is determined by the Department for Education.

Enrolment offers for Wynn Vale Preschool will be made according to the following priorities:

Priority 1:

  • Children living within the catchment area (proof of residency required)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and children who are or have been in care (These children are entitled to access a preschool program in any government preschool, regardless of their home address, any time after their 3rd birthday.)
  • If still spaces, families who live out of our catchment zone and the child has been granted enrolment due to special or extenuating circumstances (in consultation with the Local Education Team)

Priority 2: If still spaces, families who live out of our catchment zone based on the following considerations:

  • The distance in kilometres by road of the child’s residence from the preschool
  • Children who will attend (or having siblings attending) Wynn Vale School
  • Children who will attend (or have siblings attending) Golden Grove Lutheran School
  • Siblings of past students
  • Transportation needs

Priority one and two families will be offered a place at the preschool up to our designated staffing capacity. Families who cannot be offered a place will be directed to their local preschool or other available preschool options within the local area. Families can remain on our waiting list and will be offered a place if one becomes available.

The timeline for offers is as follows:

  • Offers for children beginning preschool in Term 1 will be made in Week 3, Term 3 of the year before
  • Offers for children beginning preschool in Term 3 will be made in Week 4 of Term 1 in the same year
