Preschool Transition

Information for Preschool Transition

We understand that starting school can be a daunting prospect for many children. We aim to support these children who will be attending our school the following year.

Throughout the school year, we integrate our Wynn Vale Preschool students into the school community where possible. The Preschool use our school hall for their PE lessons and also use our library to borrow books to take home.

Each preschool group has a buddy class assigned to them from the school. These students are usually around the Year 3-5 age range. Throughout the year the preschool teachers and the school classroom teacher will plan activities for the students to do together. This could be in the form of a reading/book activity, art activity, a PE game or something different.

Our preschool students participate in our annual Sports Day, take part in our Book Week parade and participate in other whole-school events along the way.

In Term 4, all students who have been allocated a place at our school for the following year, participate in transition visits to the school. During this time, they will meet our Foundation teachers and spend the morning doing some activities in the classroom to get used the school environment.
